Why you’ll love this

A cooling, nutritious raita flavoured with moringa — a quick, refreshing side for biryani, pulao or parathas.

Preparation timeline

  • Chopping cucumber: 3 minutes
  • Mixing: 2 minutes
  • Total time: ~5 minutes

Ingredients

  • Yogurt – 1.5 cups (300g)
  • Cucumber – 1 medium, grated (120g)
  • Moringa powder – ½ tsp (2g)
  • Roasted cumin powder – ½ tsp (2g)
  • Salt – 1 tsp (5g)
  • Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp, chopped

Step-by-step

  1. Step 1 — Prep (≈3 mins): Grate the cucumber and squeeze out excess water if desired.
  2. Step 2 — Mix (≈2 mins): Whisk yogurt until smooth. Add grated cucumber, moringa powder, roasted cumin, salt, and chopped coriander. Mix well until combined.
  3. Step 3: Chill briefly if desired and serve as a refreshing side with biryani, pulao, or paratha.

Pro tips

  • Use thick, fresh yogurt for the best texture.
  • Squeeze excess water from cucumber to prevent the raita from becoming watery.
  • Add a pinch of black salt or chaat masala for extra flavor.
