Serves: 2 (4 chillas) Total Time: ~25 min Prep: 10 min

Preparation Timeline

  • Chopping vegetables: 5 minutes
  • Mixing batter: 5 minutes
  • Cooking chillas: 15 minutes
  • Total time: ~25 minutes

Ingredients

  • Gram flour (besan) – 1 cup (120g)
  • Moringa powder – 1 tsp (5g)
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp (2g)
  • Red chili powder – ½ tsp (2g)
  • Onion – 1 medium, chopped (100g)
  • Tomato – 1 small, chopped (80g)
  • Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp (10g), chopped
  • Salt – 1 tsp (5g)
  • Water – ~¾ cup (180ml)
  • Oil – 2 tbsp (30ml) for cooking

Instructions

  1. Step 1 — Prepare batter (≈10 mins): In a mixing bowl, add besan, moringa powder, turmeric, chili powder, onion, tomato, coriander, and salt. Gradually add water to make a smooth, flowing batter without lumps.
  2. Step 2 — Cook chillas (≈15 mins): Heat a non-stick pan or tawa. Pour one ladle of batter and spread gently in a circular motion. Cook on medium flame for 2–3 minutes per side with a few drops of oil. Repeat for the remaining 3 chillas.
  3. Serve hot with green chutney or curd.

Tips

  • Add grated carrot or spinach for extra nutrition.
  • Ensure batter is not too thick; adjust consistency for easy spreading.
  • Cook on medium flame for crispy and evenly cooked chillas.
